Not in a flag waving way. More in the sense of the things we recognise in each other, the places we know, the references we get, the habits we barely notice and the mixture of history, humour, pride and understatement that feels very familiar.

I was born in Birmingham and have spent most of my adult life in London. I love British history, motorbikes, old buildings, odd traditions, travelling around the country and finding out the story behind things I have probably walked past a hundred times.

Over time, all of that started turning into ideas. British businesses. Things worth knowing about. Things worth keeping and things that simply make you smile because you get the reference.

That became We Do British.

So why start with selling products? Because the rest is still coming together. And because sometimes a sense of identity starts with something very simple: A phrase, or a symbol, or a joke. A design that another person looks at and immediately understands.

Products are the first part of We Do British because they are the first bit you can pick up, wear, carry or give to someone else. They are meant to feel British without looking like airport souvenirs. A little clever. A little understated. Occasionally ridiculous. Hopefully very recognisable.

There is much more coming. We Do British will grow into a wider collection of things about Britain and British life.

For now, though, this is where it starts. With a few things that say something about who we are.
